Invitation to the Maiden Edition of FCT Spelling Bee Competition

Dear Directors, Principals, Admins, Head Teachers, Guidance and Counselors, and Parents,

We are thrilled to invite your students to participate in the inaugural FCT Spelling Bee Competition! This exciting event aims to promote literacy, vocabulary, and healthy competition among students.

We cordially invite your school to join this prestigious event, designed to provide an enriching experience for your students. Our goal is to help improve their spelling and vocabulary skills, fostering a lifelong love of learning.

The competition is organized by Today Child Education and Skills Initiative, in collaboration with Kada City Interschools Competition (KCIC), renowned for hosting the annual Kaduna State (KCIC) Spelling Bee for the past seven years.

FCT Spelling Bee Competition Categories: We are excited to announce that the FCT Spelling Bee Competition will feature two categories:

Category 1: Junior Spellers (Ages 7-11)

1. Open to students aged 7-11
2. Designed to promote early literacy and vocabulary skills

Category 2: Senior Spellers (Ages 12-15)

1. Open to students aged 12-15
2. Designed to challenge advanced spellers and promote excellence in language skills

Participants will compete within their respective age categories, ensuring a fun and fair competition for all.

Registration Details

1. Dateline: Registration is currently ongoing and will close on 14th June, 2025.
2. Participating Fee: N10, 000.00 per participant (Covering Spelling Bee Booklet [Spelling It Now], and Certificate of Participation)
3. Online Registration: Register online here
4. Payment: Payment should be made directly on the website or through the bank account details provided on our website registration page.

6. Dates and Venues: To Be Announced First Week of June. 2025

Provision for less Privilege: Today Child Education and Skills Initiative is offering free slots to all schools, especially those that cannot afford to register their students due to financial constraints. This opportunity allows one talented student from each interested school to participate in the Maiden Edition of the FCT Spelling Bee competition. To Register, Fill the registration form here.

Group States: The group stages of the competition will cover the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, which are:

Proposed Dates for the Competition: We are pleased to announce the proposed dates for the competition. FCT Spelling Bee Competition Group Stages Schedule

1. Abuja Municipal Area Council: June 28, 2025
   • Venue: Government Secondary School Area 10 Garki
2. Bwari Area Council: July 5, 2025
   • Venue: Government Girls Secondary School Dutse Alhaji
3. Abaji & Kwali will join Gwagwalada Area Council: July 12, 2025
   • Venue: Government Secondary School Gwagwalada
4. Kuje Area Council: July 19, 2025
   • Venue: Government Secondary School Kuje
5. Finals: October 1, 2025
   • Venue: Government Secondary School Garki, Area 10.

Group Stage Format:

• Group allocation: Teams will be allocated to each Area Council
• Matches: Teams will compete against each other within their allocated group
• Winners: The top ten (10) best from each group will advance to the final stage of the competition

Final Format Competition Details: The final format of the competition is scheduled for Wednesday, 1st October 2025:

• Date: Wednesday, 1st October 2025
• Venue: Government Secondary School Area 10 Garki Abuja
• Qualifiers: The top 10 qualifiers from each of the six Area Councils will participate, making a total of 60 pupils/students

What to Expect:

• Exciting competition: The final round promises to be an exciting and closely contested event
• Talented participants: The best young spellers from across the six Area Councils will gather to showcase their skills

Categories and Winners:

• Age categories: 7-11 and 12-15 years old
• Winners: The top performers in each age category will be crowned winners

Competition Prizes:

1. Cash prizes for the top three students as content on the flyer
2. Medals for the top 10 students in each category
3. Certificate of participation for all participants
4. Other gifts in kind or cash from our sponsors

The benefits for participating schools include: Promotional Opportunities, Benefits, Recognition and Awards

1. Continual Advertisement: Participating schools will receive ongoing promotional exposure.
2. Full-page Feature: A full page on https://kcicspellingbee.org/posting-date/school-name/  will be dedicated to each participating school, allowing them to showcase their details and information.
3. Certificate of Participation: All participating schools will receive a Certificate of Participation.
4. Trophy for Winning schools: The winning school(s) will be awarded a trophy.
5. Benefits: Other benefits may be included, depending on the specific arrangements or partnerships.
