The KCIC Spelling Bee is an annual Spelling Challenge that brings together children in Higher Primary Schools and Junior High Schools to compete in spelling Positive Words Change the World Campaign. Schools can benchmark students’ competence against global standard and measure attainment every year.

The entire system is structure to make Kaduna State great and leading schools in the Northern Region that compete favourably with other schools in the nations. We intend to make our students lively, bold, interactive and competitive in the globe, by boosting their confidence and “I Can Attitude” in achieving their goals and a purposeful driven life among their equals.

The Spelling Bee events start in schools where teachers organize intermural school competitions to choose the school team. The school team then meets with other schools in the district (group, region, state, or zonal) competition and the best five (5) or ten (10) spellers represent the district (group, region, state, or zonal) in the Final competition. A State, Regional or National championship brings together the best five (5) or ten (10) spellers from the qualification stage of the competition. The best three spelling teams/schools will be awarded, as well as the best speller overall.

This Edition of the Spelling Bee Competition is meant to equip Pupils from age range 7-11 and 12-15 (Upper primary and Junior High School), with exceptional talent in Vocabulary, Spellings and Pronunciation in English Language. Trophy will be won at the final stage of the competition. Winning schools, students and coaches will be rewarded at end of the competition. The final stage of the competition will be live broadcast from the state Radio Station, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube) and major National Television.
